About the event
This workshop will be presented by Tina King-Garde. The session is about a the presenters journey and that of her late husband from diagnosis to death. The experience of being widowed, the grief, the emotion and the lessons learned. The purpose of the workshop and session is to have an honest and raw discussion about death, about bereavement and about life. The structure of the day will encompass the below, and whatever else may arise during discussions.
1. Tina's Journey
A brief history of Tina's story, including meeting her husband, their life and his cancer diagnosis and how they coped with his illness and the struggles both physical and mental. You will discuss palliative care and his death, funeral and beyond. There will be time to have questions and discussion.
2. All About Tina's husband Phil - talking about Phil, who he was, the impact he had on Tina's life and keeping his memory alive
3. Becoming a widow – what does it mean? Discussion on what follows, finances, housing, day to day life, dealing with others. Identity, loneliness.
4. Help – discussion on counselling, therapy, reading, social media, the internet.
5. WINGS – the support group Tina co-founded, what they do, what they have learned and how they support each other.
6. Finding Joy - How do you find joy after a loss, what gives you joy, rebuilding..
